Cosmetic

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic work should look like nothing was done at all. The goal is a result that reads as yours, in your face, at conversational distance.

What this involves

Planning comes first

Before anything is prepared, we look at proportion, tooth position, the line of your lip and how much of your teeth actually shows when you talk. Shade is the last decision, not the first.

Digital scans and photographs let us plan the result and show it to you while it can still be changed. If what you want and what the case allows are different, you will hear that early.

Veneers and bonding

Bonding uses composite material shaped directly onto the tooth in a single visit. It is conservative, repairable, and well suited to chips, small gaps and worn edges.

Veneers are thin porcelain facings made in a laboratory and bonded to the front of the tooth. They hold color and polish better over time and handle larger changes in shape or position. Both have a place. Which one is right depends on how much has to change and how much healthy tooth is there to work with.

Whitening

Whitening lifts staining from within the enamel rather than scrubbing it off. In office treatment works fastest, take home trays give you more control, and many patients use both.

Sensitivity during whitening is common and temporary. Existing crowns, veneers and fillings do not change color, so if you have visible restorations, we sequence the whitening before any replacement work.

Living with the result

Cosmetic dentistry is maintained, not installed. Porcelain resists staining well, composite less so, and both benefit from routine hygiene.

If you grind at night, a guard protects the work. We will tell you what will shorten the life of the result, including the parts of it you control.

Suitability

Who it is for

Adults bothered by chips, wear, spacing or discoloration on the teeth that show.

Patients with older visible fillings or crowns that no longer match.

Anyone who wants a change that stays believable rather than obvious.

The Process

How it works

  1. 01

    Consultation

We talk through what bothers you and photograph and scan the starting point.

  2. 02

    Design

The proposed result is planned digitally and reviewed with you before anything is prepared.

  3. 03

    Preparation

Teeth are prepared conservatively and temporaries let you live with the shape.

  4. 04

    Delivery

Final restorations are fitted, adjusted to your bite and polished.

  5. 05

    Review

You come back so we can check the fit, the tissue and how the result is wearing.

Questions

Common questions

That depends entirely on the planning. Proportion and translucency are what make porcelain read as natural, which is why the design stage happens before any tooth is prepared.
